Sustainable Food Security Program in Ethiopia – Baseline Study (2018)

As part of the food security program in Ethiopia, Soceo conducted the baseline study. In addition, an extensive value chain study was conducted to map and analyse the existing value chains of the local economy with a broader picture of networks that connect products to consumers. A special focus was given to farm products grown in the region, to understand areas of unexplored business opportunities and ways to overcome infrastructural as well as knowledge hurdles. This approach served to understand the prevalent situational problems and to offer possible solutions that can be brought about through the project to economically empower its beneficiaries. The study was based on both quantitative and qualitative research methods by conducting semi-structured interviews and household level questionnaires as well as data from primary and secondary sources.
